Challenge 2025 is increasing awareness amongst schools in The Netherlands
With rising carbon emissions and increased air and noise pollution, especially in our cities, children are the most vulnerable to poor air and noise quality. By teaching children vital lessons from a young age, you can equip them with the knowledge required to have a positive impact on the environment in the future.
Despite schools introducing green measures on their premises, many grounds are still maintained by high-emission petrol tools including lawnmowers and hedge trimmers. Research published in The Report found that the UK’s most popular leaf blower produces more harmful emissions than the average car, posing a danger to people’s health on school sites and beyond.
The secondary school Carolus Clusius College in Zwolle held a durability festival in July this year, where students could exchange experiences about the future of the Earth as well as learning how to create a minimum impact on the ecological footprint. Recycling clothes, building insect hotels, etc. EGO Power+, cordless specialist for outdoor power tools, was asked to speak about ‘sustainable production’. Gerco de Graaf, Director of Sales, gave several presentations to students in the 4th year of the Atheneum. The main focus was to change attitudes towards petrol-powered garden tools and empower users to make the switch to battery-power. At the end of each presentation the students were asked to solve a ‘physics issue’ about Voltage, Amperage and Autonomy. The winning student can win a Nexus Escape Inverter with battery and charger worth of €259.
Gerco visited De Landstede in Zwolle, section Facility Management, in November to continue sharing the important message from the Challenge 2025 campaign. Also students were asked to solve the ‘physics issue’ to be able to win a Nexus Escape inverter in worth of €259.
